I have been a patient of DRI on and off all my life and been satisfied. I'm not saying I like the Management idea as I think there is a lot of money thrown down the drain. But when I've had an appointment I've been catching the bus home before my appointment time quite often.
One thing I have noticed and mentioned while an inpatient now and again is that the big chairs in the rest rooms and by the beds get sat on by visitors and patients alike, some of these patients have bowel problems. I don't know if it is the same now as it was as I haven't been an in patient for a while but these chairs didn't seem to get cleaned and you could
get umpteen people using them in a day.
Just a thought.
Although I use my car often I don't use it to visit DRI, some people have to but the bus service from Armthorpe isn't bad although a bit of a rough ride
By the way I did have to write a letter of complaint about the treatment my mother had at DRI some years ago but I blamed Management and let it drop although the complaints people wanted me to go ahead with it. The reason I didn't was because I didn't want problems if family had to go in DRI afterwards. When Mother had to go in on her last days a few months after the complaint I had a job getting her admitted to a ward.Without mentioning the complaint to the Staff on the ward or anyone at that time the Staff on the ward referred to it as soon as mother was into bed.
As I said that was a few (under 10)years ago but it makes you very careful
Iv'e been quite pleased since but thought I would just mention it.
Although this happened to me I don't believe alot of the bad things said about DRI.I may be old fashioned but I much preferred the big wards and Matron
Thankyou DRI
