"LGI A&E visit"

About: Leeds General Infirmary

My GP sent me to A&E by ambulance as I had severe hip pain. As I expected, there were long periods of waiting alone in a cubicle-less expectedly I was very cold wearing only a gown, though I was later given a blanket. I was x-rayed fairly soon and the radiographer said that she would send me and my x-rays back to A&E.I was slightly surprised to returned instead to the X-ray waiting area where I remained for some time until a porter appeared and said he had had difficulty finding me as he had not seen my white form. If I had been asked to keep this visible I would of course have done so; as I had not, I had put it in my bag. A wait in A&E followed, as expected; when I was seen by a doctor he was kind and efficient, and the young member of staff who helped me after the decision not to admit me was extremely kind and compassionate, but the apparent misunderstanding after the x-ray aroused my concern about patients being "mislaid".
