What I liked

I have been treated twice at the A&E dept at the NGH with head injuries. The first time being the worst in 2004 as I needed eighteen sutures to my forehead. I was unconscious with abnornal breath respirations when the ambulance arrived to take me to the NGH, A&E dept after I fell down a flight of stairs on to quarry tiles knocking my self out. When I arrived there, I had to wait with a compression bandage on my head from the ambulance staff. After waiting I was seen by junior Dr who after raising my arms seemed me fit to have no internal head injuries to the the brain or skull. He then proceeded to suture my forehead. No MRI or X-RAY or CAT scan was deemed neccessary. Lucky for me I did not have fracture of the skull or a bleed in a blood vessel. The second time I had an injury to the chin after falling over again and when I arrived to their credit this time they placed me straight into a cubicle but I discharged my self as I felt okay and did not want to waste their time.

What could be improved

The problem with the NGH A&E is they have a lot of time waster clients who enter and waste their time with silly or stupid injuries that could be treated at home. I Never wished to seek treatment either times when I visited but the ambulance just takes you there even if you protest.

But if a person has been unconscious I think X-RAY is the least they can do. I used to be member of the Royal Army Medical Corp so I know if you head is ripped open on my first occassion at NGH and you have been unconscious for a time with respiratory breathing problems they should have done a lot more than they did that junior doctors clinical assement was a sham.
