About: Royal Derby Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

From the moment I entered the hospital I was struck by the professional and helpful attitude. I requested directions from a hospital "volunteer" who then escorted me to precisely the right department for treatment. At the daycare centre, all of the staff, without exception, were polite, friendly, courteous and helpful. My case was a potentially complicated one, but the consultant and Occupational Therapist involved me fully in the decison making process and explained all the potential benefits and drawbacks of my procedure. At no time (apart from the expected nervousness!) was I in any way concerned or worried, with all the staff combining tact, humour and common sense reasoning to reassure me throughout. The treatment I received (Needle Aponeurotomy) is a pre-cursor to more complicated surgery next month, however the success of the treament so far and the high quality staff leave me in no doubt that I am recieving the very highest standards of treatment.

What could be improved

My Sat Nav. It required the inputting of a house number as well as the postcode of the hospital. It got me to within 2 km of the actual location, but then I had to use the force.

Anything else?

Av very big and heartfelt thankyou to ALL the staff in Day Surgery. You are fantastic ambassadors of the National Health Service and for you hospital.
