"Good treatment at Rotherham District General"

About: Rotherham Hospital

(as the patient),

I am very happy with the treatment I received whilst at the Rotherham District General hospital last month. Everyone was so kind and concerned. The meals were lovely and my room was spotless. Everything was explained to me and I didn't feel upset or worried.

I think the worst thing that happened was waiting for my medication on the day of my discharge - I was told in the morning that I could go home, but I was still there at 7.30pm. I do feel that this could be managed much better. Perhaps prescriptions could be faxed to the patient's GP so that it reduces collection times and thereby lightens the load for the hospitals.

Thank you very much for taking the time to post on this website and I am pleased to read of your satisfaction with the care you received.

I am sorry for the delay you encountered when waiting for your medication but would like to thank you for your suggestion on how this might be improved. I have passed your comments to our Chief Pharmacist who has explained that whilst it is difficult to respond to this comment in general terms, the Trust is looking at ways to improve the efficiency of the dispensary, including its recent refurbishment.

It is important that patients are given a supply of medicines when they leave hospital as it is not always possible for patients to collect these from a pharmacy immediately on leaving the hospital.

Thank you once again for your post.
