My sister was admitted to Broomfield hospital late November, where she was treated for blocked arteries in her right leg. Two toes on the right foot where black, clearly she had gangrene. The Surgeon took nearly a month to amputate which they did finally. My sister is 81 years old and survived this operation. Since being in Broomfieldf she has had numerous blood tests, given drugs unnecessary, left with out food for two days when she was in a side ward room. Dirty needle was used , which has left my sister in a great deal of pain, bruising and swelling from the wrist to the shoulder. The nursing staff are very unhelpful as I discovered my self personally yesterday after travelling 300 miles. Patient being moved no notification. Medical records going missing , and the list goes on. A written compliant has been sent in the the Administrator of the hospital which still has not been dealt with. I was also informed that a special bed was needed for my sister which had an inflatable mattress. This the staff failed to inflate for two days, causing more bed sores, which are now all down her back and both legs. In all not a very good hospital to be classed as a teaching one, with all the mod cons and not the proper nursing skills In all a total disgrace. If things do not improve then this matter with photographs and a daily recorded report from us will be given to the media
"Lack of communication between staff and relates"
