"Nearly one year and counting."

I went to see my GP with abdo pain in March 2013 who referred me to the Gastro dept at the Cumberland infirmary, after waiting nearly 8 weeks an appointment finally came through the post which was scheduled for the 2nd week in June so a further 6 weeks wait to be seen. My appointment finally came round which was with a doctor who was very nice and he discussed that I may have a Pancreas problem and possibly something wrong within my stomach, he arranged for me to have a CT scan and an endoscopy which was scheduled for the last week in August which was another 9 weeks away, bearing in mind sometimes I am in unbearable pain and no one knew what was going on or what ailment was causing the pain, for all we knew it could be stomach cancer, anyway I went for my Endoscopy and was told by the Doctor/technician who pulled me to one side that I have changes in my stomach that may suggest that I have liver failure and that I was to make sure it was followed up she had also taken a biopsy. I then had my CT scan in the same week. Another 3 months went by without hearing anything and it was only because I phoned the doctor's Secretary that I heard anything at all, she explained that the doctor was ill and was on long term sickness. 2 weeks later my GP called me and asked me to go to see her, she basically said that I may have portal hypertension which is a serious condition and could develope into varices in the stomach which can be life threatening. I then waited for her to say that the doctor or one of his colleagues will be in touch for the next plan of action, how wrong was I, she basically said that the infirmary had referred me back to my GP, My GP then said that the condition was too complext and that she could not understand why I had been passed to her as it was obvious that more tests are required by the Gastro dept to complete the diagnosis. I have now been referred back to the infirmary which up to now I am yet to receive an appointment so it has been yet another 8 weeks. Next month it will be 1 year since I went to see my GP and I am basically no further forward and still in pain. I think a year is very unacceptable for anything to be diagnosed in this day and age and to be honest I am fed up of the whole thing and I have had to rely on my own research on the internet to try and understand what could be wrong with me which again is unacceptable. Please can you advise what I can do to speed this process up as obviously after one year my condition will have worsened due to no advise or treatment, Many thanks, kevin
