"Knees Up!"

About: Leicester General Hospital

On 9th January I was admitted to Ward 19 for a left knee replacement, all the pre op tests and explanations carried out well, theatre exprience one of the better ones in my many ops, spinal anaesthetic worked well and my mind taken off the noises of saw, hammer etc by a very kind nurse who talked to me during the op. The recovery room staff v good and caring then, off to ward 18 where I was recieved by a caring team of staff. What was supposed to be a 4-5 day admission turned into 9 days on ward 18 and then tranferred for re hab to Loughborough. It was such a pleasure to meet the Matron during her round who did not scare me as much as my old Matron of 60years ago!! During my stay I was treated with respect by all staff who maintained my dignity at all times. I had a problem on evening with my chicken salad, chicken looked like fish and inedible, I shortly recieved a visit form 2 supervisors who assured me that they would investigate. The next day housekeeper asked if I would like an Indian meal which was superb and I had another the following eveing. On 17th. jan I was transferred to Loughborough. Many many thanks to all on ward 18 especially to the ward manager and housekeepers.

Response from Leicester General Hospital

Dear B Cawdell Thank you for taking the time to provide some feedback. It’s great to read that you were particularly pleased with the care and warmth of the staff on wards 18 and 19. We will pass your comments on to all involved, they will be delighted. We’re sorry to hear that the food wasn’t up to scratch one evening, but we’re glad that this was quickly resolved and that you enjoyed your dinner during the rest of your stay. We wish you will in your recovery. Kind regards Communications Team Leicester’s Hospitals
