"Lack of care and appalling rudeness"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Elderly medicine

(as a relative),

My 85 year old father in law is now more ill than when admitted, due to regularly being allowed to become dehydrated, being allowed to have a fall requiring 7 stitches in his head, being allowed to go without food for 2 days. All to such an extent that even the other patients in his ward feel the need to tell us of his situation. Never mind, the nurse in charge has suggested we might like to bring him in a drink ourselves. Care.....what care? There's not even basic humanity.

Since I have worked in the NHS for 25 years, I understand the difficulties I will encounter with the tedious and long complaints procedure. It will not deter me. Meantime I am making plans to take my patient home so that he can be provided with some real care.
