My husband underwent arterial stent procedure. Appointment for procedure was 12.30 and we arrived at Aintree at 12.05 pm. We reported to CT reception as stated in the letter. At 12.30 we were the only patients left waiting . On asking the receptionist what was happening she told us that we should have been in radiology and apologised apparently she should have escorted us from the reception area to radiology. Once we arrived we were told that there was a 2 hr wait as the surgeon was seeing to an emergency. We were left in the waiting area for over 3 hrs ( staff were very apologetic). My husband was finally taken in for his procedure at 15,45 pm. As he was to have an overnight stay after the procedure he was finally taken up to the ward at 7.15 pm. I was told to wait in the day room until they settled him on the ward and that they would come and let me know when they had finished and I could then go and see him. I waited over 1/2 hr in the day room until I wondered how long it took to put someone into bed and get them settled. Eventually I walked down to the ward to find my husband in bed with no sign of any staff. He thought I had given up waiting and gone home. There was no sign of any nursing staff to ask any questions etc. I cannot fault the radiology staff as they couldn't have been more helpful and I just feel sorry for the nursing staff who all appeared to be run ragged and getting nowhere fast.
"Wonderful staff"
