It was only when I got home that I realised the service I received was incomplete because there was no after care advice which it turned out I really would have benefited from because 9 hours later, I'm still bleeding and not sure what to do. To my mind, this made the service I received not as good as I thought. During my treatment I felt the Doctor was really nice, helpful and calming as I was extremely nervous. I had met her before and I always found her quite nice. I was aware however that one member of staff assisting the doctor was fed up with something to do with problems with staffing levels and because it was very late and had obviously been a very busy date in the surgery. Even though he was nice, there was a moment he asked to speak to the Doctor - outside the room that I was in, waiting to start treatment - about whatever was upsetting him and I did feel that to be very unprofessional. It was quite obvious when they returned into the room the issue was to do with some problem at work - nothing to do with my treatment. He also continued the conversation while assisting the Doctor and I felt he was distracted when he was supposed to be assisting the doctor who was trying to extract my tooth. He had the suction tube and I'm sure the doctor had to call his attention to what he was doing. I certainly did feel comfortable. Also, the doctor seemed rushed towards the end of her treatment, maybe because it was going on to 6pm - even though my appointment time was 3pm (although I did get there late) - and she still had another patient and I could see she was a little stressed. When I got home and looked on the internet for advice of what to do after tooth extraction, it was then I learned she should packed the site of the extraction with gauze which I should had then bitten down on to put pressure on the site to get it to clot and she made sure I had stopped bleeding before I left and given me after care advice. All she told me was not to rinse my mouth today as she led me out rather quickly when she was finished with me. I was still bleeding when I left, Bleeding as I was in the supermarket looking for tissues because I had no gauze - so all I could use was tissues - and then found out on internet about using a wet teabag because it didn't stop bleeding. It's now 9 hours after the tooth extraction and I'm still bleeding. I've had to keep trawling through the internet to get advice and I'm now really appalled that I wasn't given after care advice - not even a leaflet. So even through I personally liked the Doctor who treated me, unfortunately she didn't follow through with the proper after care and I'm still left wondering when I will stop bleeding. In my view this was quite careless.
