"After breaking my arm and being ..."

About: Royal Hampshire County Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

After breaking my arm and being admitted via A & E, I admit I was grumpy and didn`t want to be there(surely no one would) but the care I received could not be better.

"EVERY" nurse, doctor, surgeon, porter, admin and cleaner were more than excellent, not just in their treatment of me but what I observed where other patients needed more care than me.

On a follow up visit I was directed to a department on the opposite side of the hospital, I got lost, asked a nurse who was uncertain but a passing cleaner took me to where she thought I wanted and from there a porter took me to the correct unit. This journey through the hospital could be seen as a problem, but I left having met a further 5 helpful & friendly staff. Thank you!

What could be improved

The pharmacy.

After a stay in hospital (no matter how good the care) everyone is desperate to get home as soon as possible, when you are told you can leave but just have to wait for medication from the pharmacy they spoil the whole experience by making you wait several hours for a few pills.

Anything else?

My visits have been as pleasurable as any visit to a hospital can be, patients should complain where appropriate but also sing the praises and appreciate the service we get.
