"Fractured tibia"

About: Broomfield Hospital

I was admitted by ambulance on 6 September following a fall. On arrival at the hospital the triage nurse(?) told them to put me in the general a&e waiting room, the paramedic had to fight my corner and I was taken through with severe fractures to my leg My experience on the ortho trauma ward was pretty good. The staff were great and did their best considering the pressure they were under. Just one hiccup where I was left on a bedpan for too long and which was too small. Not much dignity there and I am only in my 40s. They need more staff! I didn't appreciate being told off and to go to sleep when there was so much noise. It was my choice to lay with headphones on and listen to radio and I was disturbing nobody. It all went wrong when I was suddenly moved in the middle of the night to the other end of the hospital to the gynae ward, well more geriatric than gynae. I was then lost in the system and nobody from physio came to find me. My partner had to call the surgeons office and complain and then something was done. The nursing staff on the gynae ward were great and I cannot fault them. They were massively understaffed and yet were so kind and patient with their patients. Broomfields biggest failing is it's communication and coordination and lack of nurses.
