"Long waiting times at Minor Injury Unit"

About: Buxton Hospital

(as the patient),

I attended Buxton Hospital following, getting something in my eye, initially triaged by someone who said I don't think there is anything in there. But we can pop drops in to see if there is any damage.

My eye was very red and sore, constantly grating when I blinked. I was told I would have to wait up to 3 1/2 hours as they were busy. This is small unit. I could not have sat there for 3 hours with my eye so sore unable to focus.

I immediately went to my GP Practice who, checked my eye immediately and placed dye in to diagnose a scratch to the cornea and removed the debris from my eye, prescribing antibiotics. This took them 20 mins and within a couple of hours I was starting to feel better.

I could have still been waiting at the hospital. Causing more damage.
