"Ninewells hospital A&E waiting time "

About: Ninewells Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

Waiting time - admitted at 2: 45 am - TV screen said an hour wait - there were a couple sitting in front of me after 90 minutes I asked how long they had been waiting -they told me 2 1/2 hours.

There was no one else in the waiting room but us - I enquired at the desk what the waiting time was and was told an hour I said that I had been waiting over 90 minutes and the couple had been there for over 2 1/2 - he said he would make enquiries - he along with a colleague we're sitting reading newspapers at the desk.

Several staff had wondered past the waiting room with no real urgency.

Within 5 mins of my enquiry the couple in front were called and the waiting time on the TV changed to 2 1/2 hours.

I asked how many doctors were on call - they didn't give me the answer saying they were busy with accidents. There were no ambulances during my waiting time.

Dundee has a population of over 200k people. This hospital seems to be working on a skeleton staff - all I've been offered are painkillers - before I'm even seen - is this to keep the patients quiet?
