I am a carer for a man who has learning disabilities, during a visit to hospital the man I support ran out of rescue medication (for seizures) as he had used it whilst in hospital, the staff were informed but still did not bring any up they were informed on regular occasions. The staff were not listening just kept saying they would do it, the man I support then went into a seizures and required rescue medication but didn't have any in the end after a prolonged seizures the staff nurse came in did not speak or reassure the man I support and gave him rescue medication whilst huffing and puffing, the staff nurse then left and went out side of the room, anther auxiliary nurse followed her, the auxiliary nurse was very rude and was shouting outside to the staff about how we had provided the man who I support with inadequate care not going downstairs pharmacy to get rescue medication and saying what would they do if they was at home making rude comments about care staff, the hospital were responsible for his medication and we can not check the stock as they lock it up so surely it is the duty of the hospital staff to check the stock, they were informed thirteen times to get more midazolam but did not listen, the auxiliary nurse also then continued in her unhappy ways to g into a patient with dementia and shouted at him just because he didn't know where he was going this is inadequate care. I have been to this ward many times and the staff are usually wonderful all the staff on Jupiter ward are lovely and helpful its such a shame that the incident happened.
