In 2007 I was referred here as a lifelong asthma sufferer. At that time the quality of my life was extremely poor and my asthma was out of control,unstable and poorly managed. However, since being under the care of this patient centred team led the doctor and a group of professionals who are specialists in their own right, my asthma has become more manageable and better controlled. It is reassuring that Heartlands hospital employs this calibre of staff who all play a unique role in the patients journey. The attention to detail provided by all staff within this specialist clinical team is paramount to the patients recovery and maintenance of such a debilitating disease. This is a team of professionals who listen to their patients by providing the required time for a patient to express their concerns in relation to the impact asthma is having upon their lifestyle and their families. This is also a team that should be supported by their management structure and given every resource necessary in order to treat and maintain their patients. By supporting such a team, I am convinced this will reduce the need for hospitalisation. A big 'thank you' to you all and keep up the good work.
