"Antenatal Reception Staff (Level 5)"

About: The Whittington Hospital

On two occasions I've encountered rude staff from the Antenatal reception 'level 5' desk. Todays staff member asked if she could help (in a round about way) and before I could respond she continued chatting to her colleagues. The staff member before this couldn't construct a clear sentence and was incapable of responding thereafter. In my experience, the staff on this desk (a) don't behave professionally, (b) have bad attitudes, (c) are incredibly unhelpful, (d) don't maintain good communication skills and (e) slouch. The Antenatal reception staff from level 5 should job shadow the wonderful lady based in the community midwife division across the way. This is an incredibly busy department, she's amazing and works her socks off. Over the years I've encountered many wonderful and incredibly hardworking people at the Whittington. It can sometimes take one person or small group of jobsworths to change a good experience in to a bad one and it's really unfair on those people that provide a great service.

Response from The Whittington Hospital

Thank you for your comments regarding the poor experience you received from reception staff in our antenatal clinic which was in comparison to a positive experience from our community midwife and other Whittington Health staff. Your feedback clearly offers us an insight to areas of improvement within our antenatal clinic which will be used as a direct opportunity for improvement. We recognise that one poor incident can affect any earlier encounters, no matter how great they may be and this is something we will remind our staff of. Thank you for taking the time to feedback to us, your comments have been shared with the relevant departments and staff.
