"Trying to get a pair of boots made"

About: Seacroft Hospital

Once again, after I went for a fitting of my new boots about 4 weeks ago, the boot makers had not followed the instructions that I had left them. They had made the sole and heel out of a lightweight hard foam material (which compresses easily) instead of leather. The use of this material has been tried in the past and I specifically had told the appliance (sorry, we now have to call it prosthetics even though I am not missing any bits) man that I wanted things doing in leather as the foam compresses causing me to go over on the side of my foot totally defeating the object of having a built up sole. (You would think that professional boot makers would know this??). I also asked for the boot to have a heel on it not a wedge sole/heel. Anyway that was a few weeks ago and today (13/1/2014) I went to pick up my altered boot only to find that yet again there was insufficient heel on it (despite my having drawn a template of a comfortable boot that I have for them to follow) and that the wedges on the sole of the boot had yet again been made using foam. To top it all the fitter is on holiday for 2 weeks so no-one will be attending to this for at least 2 weeks, and I had to walk a considerable distance from where I could park due to there not being enough parking spaces. I just hope that it is not the NHS that has to pay for all these alterations that are entirely due to the fact that they can not follow simple instructions even when they have it written down and pictures.
