"Visiting a friend in hospital."

I hadn't been to the Western Infirmary wards for a number of years. Last time was for myself in 2005.
It wasn't great then, but today I had to say I was shocked at the state of the whole hospital from the front door upwards. I know the hospital will be closing in a year or so, but I would dread to be ill between now and then.
The lifts were in an appalling state. The whole decor is run down and badly deteriorating. Even walking along the corridors there were signs made out of what looked like an old cardboard box. The wards were very sparse and unappealing.
In the room where I was, there was my friend and 3 others. And none of them liked it at all.
Then lastly I needed to go to the toilet before leaving, and I headed to the toilet near the canteen, as the one beside A&E is the worst thing ever. Whilst walking down the corridor the most horrendous smell of cooking comes from the kitchen, And I remembered this from previous visits, I actually felt nauseated and could smell it for a good few hours after.
All I can say is I just hope amongst hope that I do not take ill between the Western closing and the completion of the New Southern.
