"Ward 24- These are Significant Events"

About: Arrowe Park Hospital

I am writing this review on behalf of a 92 year old lady who has received appalling treatment from the staff on Ward24. ( she is registered blind and deaf) 1- Starting with giving her out of date medication when staff approached all they said was " it was not me". 2- The charts on the bottom of her bed belonged to 2 other women! 3- The oxygen machine was not working and it took several hours for any of the staff to notice! 4-The lady is unable to feed herself as she is registered blind yet one member of staff lied stating that she had sat up, cut her food her up and fed herself! 5- The staff called her husband into the ward as they said the pt was uncooperative. She is actually almost stone deaf and the staff had not turned her hearing aids on. The pt's husband is over 90 himself! 6- The staff have not given the pt any of her medication for the past 2 days as they say she will not take any. The staff did not inform her husband or her son of this. The pt takes antibiotics, steroids, asthma medication and thyroid tablets! When it did come to light the husband just gave the pt the medication no problem. Why was he not informed at the time 7- There is a huge cardboard cut out as you enter the 2nd floor of the hospital about Elderley Abuse. In this lady's case she need look no further than the staff on her ward- ward 24!!
