"ENT OPD"

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

I visited the ENT OPD and found the nurses to be lovely. However in general the place is extremely scatty and disorganized. I was seen by a "physicians associate" and found the whole experience extremely worrying. The lady had no idea what was going on around her. She could not find my notes, could not work out why I was there, then when eventually they asked why I was there this was also questioned.... quite ridiculous really. In the past I was seen by a doctor about seven years ago and vowed I would never go back. This lady runs the department and I found her attitude very dismissive and even argumentative. I felt that I was treated very rudely as she continued to talk to one of her students in my presence and indeed never even bothered to check if I was happy to have a student present. Arrogant attitudes are prevalent in the NHS and there is no justification for this. Indeed many people now think that to be involved in the medical profession in any way is a thing of shame and not something which should be boasted about. There are some good people in every organization but they was very little sign of them the day I visited. I do feel people should be less gullible when dealing with anyone who works in the NHS and always question what goes on there

It has been a great disappointment to read the description of your experience when you visited the hospital recently. Your comments will be passed to the ENT manager. If you would like to talk to the service about your experience and if you have not done so already, then please contact the PAL Service at pals@stgeorges.nhs.uk or on 020 8725 2453. PALS staff will be able to listen to your concerns and put you in touch with an appropriate person in the ENT service.
