"I recently attended the Women’s Health Clinic at..."

About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary

I recently attended the Women’s Health Clinic at the RVI. It was excellent in every respect: smart receptionists, kindly nurses, a very professional doctor. I received an appointment very promptly after seeing my GP. The day did not suit me but I changed the appointment to one a few days later - the person I spoke to at the RVI answered the phone promptly, spoke clearly and was courteous. When I arrived at the clinic, I was greeted by a receptionist who had a smile on her face (that was really nice) and who explained to me what would happen during my appointment. The doctor and nurses treated me with courtesy and respected my privacy. The doctor explained everything in advance and told me to tell her if I had any discomfort or pain during her examinations. I felt as if every little detail of the clinic had been thought out from the patient’s perspective. The doctor told me everything was OK without in any way suggesting that I was wasting their time. The whole appointment - weighed and measured by nurse, chat with doctor, scan and examination, feedback from doctor - took only 40 minutes from start to finish. I was left with an impression of superb organisation, attention to detail, and treating every patient as an individual - even though the receptionist, nurses and doctors must have to say the same thing to countless patients every day. Well done!
