My 83 year old mum has just been transferred from Colchester to Clacton. EAU was appalling. No pillows to start off with - I had to use my coat! My mum had had a fall around 2.30 a.m., and the congealed blood was not cleaned off until 4.30 p.m. although I had made several requests for this to be done. Her Parkinsons medication should be given with breakfast, lunch and dinner and I found a nurse giving this to her at 4 p.m. as she had been too busy to do it before. I am in the process of complaining about a nurse who was shouting at my mum to sit up. My mum was born with dislocated hips and had one completely stiffened and the other is a partial hip replacement. She cannot sit up, particularly when in bed. The same nurse was shouting at her to open her mouth whilst trying for force her to take 4 of her 9 tablets at a time rather than the one at a time she usually does. On one visit I requested that mum had a dressing changed due to blood coming through. The next day, this had still not been done. Her wrist band was cutting into her skin and again I asked for some kind of covering over the affected area but this had not been done by my next visit. Not happy at all.
