"planned minor op plastic surgery unit"

About: Countess Of Chester Hospital

i have been a patient with this dept for just over 2 years and was diagnosed with a malignant melanoma on my back in june 2011,the care initially was excellent, outpatient appointments were every 3 months, and still are ,however despite more lesions being taken off me ,i found a patch of eczema looking lesion with sudden raised papules which i was concerned about,,after showing the plastic surgeon when i was last in outpatients 1,,i was sent an appointment to have a biopsy taken off it ,i attended this on 20th november 2013,waited over half an hour over my booked appointment time to have the surgery ,once in the operating theatre ,my plastic surgeons registra ,told me that the lesion on my back didnt look like a skin cancer and was probably eczema, and he therefore went to see a consultant dermatologist ,who came and looked at me ,i was asked by her my history and i told her that i needed to have this op for my own peace of mind ,she told the registra that i should have the punch biopsy done as she wanted to know what these papules were and that depending on the results of histology an appointment for me would be made to see her in her clinic,i endured a frosty atmosphere during the operation because i stood up for myself, naturally given my history i didnt want to take any chances ,i know this melanoma can come back in distant places and because i am still on 3 monthly checkups i am not out of the woods yet. i have never been given any scans to check it hasnt spread elsewhere in my body yet these lesions keep sprouting out of me and since being diagnosed i have had 5 more lesions took off me ,surely as this is a deadly disease i shouldnt be made to feel awkward for standing my ground.apart from this overall i have never been treated like this before and was most upset and disgusted that nobody bothered to communicate with me prior to my attendence recently in this department.
