"Six weeks and still no results"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

I had a biopsy for suspected basal cell carcinoma six weeks ago. I was told I would receive results in two to three weeks... I am still waiting. My GP has heard nothing. I have phoned the hospital and been passed from pillar to post. Yesterday I was assured that the consultant's secretary would get back to me. She didn't. Do I deserve better than this? I think so. If I don't get some answers this week I will be making a formal complaint.

I am sorry to hear that you are still waiting to receive your results and it is difficult for us to determine why there has been a delay without more details. Normally we would expect results to be returned within three weeks but this can vary depending on each individual case. Again, I am sorry that you do not have your results yet and I hope they will be with you soon. Dr L Shall Consultant Dermatologist
