"David Pearce follow up to first post, 4 weeks..."

About: Peterborough City Hospital

My Mother had a nasty fall fracturing her back in 4 places and at 84 yrs old was not only very painful but distressing. She has now been there for just over 4 weeks and showing no signs of getting any better. After the first week she started to have Physio with signs of slight improvement although high doses of Morphine where used to aid the pain but unfortunately 2 weeks ago whilst being taken to the bathroom for a strip wash or shower was left for a short while whilst using the toilet and had another fall taking her right back to square one, in fact she is now far worst than when she was admitted. She is now on such high doses of pain relief she is completely unaware of anything and Hallucinating so bad that i have now asked to have her medication reduced. I have now been told that she has a chest infection and the Consultant is more concerned about this (understandingly) Nights are the worst for her as she cannot get out of bed and has to rely on help to go to the toilet but often has to wait for over an hour as the staff are busy. I understand how difficult it must be to look after so many patients. In general the staff are very friendly and caring and overall the Hospital offers first class treatment. Ultimately I just want my Mum back , she's the only one i have and love her very much.
