"Stay on F6 November 2012"

About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley)

I was admitted to the Surgical Assessment Unit with abdominal pain and felt immediately impressed with care that I received. Although there was a bit of a wait to be taken to the bedside I was seen by a very professional Registrar who listened carefully to my symptoms and examined me. The nursing staff were very professional too, caring and very skilled, I felt in safe hands. I was admitted to F6 overnight and had CT scans etc which were all explained to me in advance. As a former nurse I have inside knowledge which does make a difference. I saw the Consultant and his team in the evening and my CT results were given to me fairly quickly. The ward staff were excellent, F6 is a very busy ward and the staff worked so hard but they managed to remain professional and keep a sense of humour and more importantly kindness throughout my stay there. I sensed a positive atmosphere amongst the staff which clearly came from good, confident leadership. During a worrying time in pain, awaiting test results my spirits were kept up with the lovely lady serving the meals and the nursing staff. After my discharge I needed major surgery (see review in Gynaecolocgy section).
