"Day surgery unit"

About: King George Hospital

I came in for minor surgery to remove a screw from the metal plate after having broken my leg back in June. I'm very nervous of hospitals especially as both my parents had bad experiences before they died in a hospital in woolwich. From entering the day surgery ward until leaving it a few hours later, I was really impressed with the efficiency and professionalism of all the staff I came into contact with, the consultant had a wicked sense of humour which again helped calm my nerves. Everything was explained carefully and I was given ample time to ask questions and have reassurance about the procedure. I have to say the surgery ( I opted for a local anaesthetic ) well the numbing injection, hurt like hell but again all the staff in the operating theatre did their best to take my mind off of the pain! After my foot was numbed it was fine. They were all very caring and made an experience which I was really dreading into a pretty much pleasant one. No one likes having to come into hospital, but the care and thought which these staff had was second to none. A huge thank you.

Thank you so much for leaving your comment. I am delighted that you were so pleased with the care you received, and that the experience was not as you had feared. I will pass your comments on to the team in the day surgery unit. Dr Mike Gill Medical Director
