I have been admitted in the hospital on 3 occasions under section 2. Since back in 2007 when I was first admitted I would say the conditions were at a bit of a low standard. However since then there has been a lot of improvements to the structure and layout of hospital. It has improved greatly I think. The food in the hospital is also good, I don't understand some of the comments on here. You also have a choice of halal and non-halal which I think is excellent. I think overall the staff are good. I do understand from some of the comments that are saying that staff are rude. But I don't think that applies to all staff as they do have excellent staff there who are willing to help. The best way is to treat the staff with respect and you will also receive the same. When I was there I could see patients being very rude to staff and saying really racist comments. So no wonder sometimes people will say staff are being rude but I don't think they see the whole situation which escalated from before. The only thing that annoyed me really was the 'no smoking room'. Now you have to go up on the roof garden on a rota every 2 hours. Anyways I suppose it's a good thing as smoking is bad anyways. Also another point I think is unfair is that ebury ward has a pool table but others don't. Im guessing that ward is probably for less violent patients so makes sense if that's the reason. But would be nice if they had same leisure facilities on all wards but other than that I think overall The Gordon is an excellent hospital in my opinion.
