"AAU visit, never again."

About: Watford General Hospital

I was admitted to AAU with abdominal pains. I had to wait 2 hours to be seen, Soon as I arrived the tests began bladder scans, blood test and full exmaine and I was told it could be kidney stones. I was then moved to purple ward level 1 and I was treated terribly by the staff, they were chucking medication down you and when I asked a nurse what is it? she said something to make you better. So I didst take it cause I didn't know what I was taking or be allergic to it. We asked for a fan as it was so hot, and I was informed Watford general doesn't supply fans cause patients nick them. when its 30 + degree heat outside a fan is needed. I was dripped up that night with fluids and sodium. I was then moved to purple ward level 3 by a porter, who rushed along the corridoor like he was doing handbrake turns I had a drip in my arm at the time and we crashed into the dinner trolley. There was a spill of blood that came through my test tube drip which the nurse had to flush out. The beds were more comfy on this ward. There was only 3 good members of staff on this ward. The night I was admitted to purple ward I was screaming in pain at 2am, one of these nurses ran to me, I mean ran. A on call doctor was with me in 10 mins. I had good care from the on call doctor. I was under urolgy for being a kidney problem. I ad a ct booked. I had a gastro consultant come along and discharged me. I wasnt her patient to discharge!! she was rude as anything, did not examine me, and discharged with severe pain. My GP is going mental as he trying to get me back into watford under urology as i urgently need this CT scan to find out whats wrong. I had a cavalar in my arm. When the nurse took it out my arm was bleeding like a fountain, he put a dressing on it, and the blood came through straight away cause the force. He walked away. I pressed my buzzer as I enarly passed out and blood was running down my arm and onto the bed. Blood every where. He then pressed it hard to stop the bleeding. Only thing is I lost feelings in my arm, feels so dead and pins and needles, 2 weeks on nearly I cant hold anything and its so dead. 4 nights in hospital was awlful overall and came out none of the wiser whats wrong and the pain is still there. My bladder over filling too. so im in alot of pain. The food wasnt too bad if you didnt have the chicken dry as anything, and lasange with grisly bits. The breakfast was apoorling rice krispies, (kidney probs you cant have milk) or bread and jam which was dry yuck!! give it to the birds. You dont get any tv, radio or patient line. Well I tried going to another hospital, but Watford have apparently lost my folder and records. I would recommend QE 11 hospital in Welwyn in future. Avoid this hspitl if you can, my first visit and last.
