I am a 68 year old self employed Motor Mechanic, I would like to comment on the excellent treatment that I received 3 years ago when I took myself to A&E with a suspected broken rib after falling off a ladder. Staff confirmed the fracture but a vascular surgeon discovered a greater problem, an AAA. They arranged for the open AAA operation to be carried out by them and their excellent team two weeks later. They have the ability to inspire confidence in a patient, not once did I feel worried or that the operation would not go well, he discussed all the options and pros and cons of the procedure. I would give the hospital staff 10 out of 10 for care and attention, I was discharged 8 days later and back to work as a Mechanic fit an well aprox 2 months later. I have had no post operation problems and live a normal strenuous working life. I have already thanked all the staff but this is a belated survival thanks. The operation was so successful that I tend to 'forget' that I ever had it.
