I had a confirmed by letter and text appt at the retinal clinic [first visit] on 20.05.2013 My husband and myself both cancelled work commitments so i would not have to drive. I was sent home with pupils fully dilated a confirmed reduction in vision that day [but still 6/9]without any Doctor looking into my eyes as the A+E doctor did not have time . I had a scan which showed a? peripheral haemorrhage that day but no appointment to see the doctor as confirmed for that day by letter. This is unacceptable in summary I have a sudden reduction in vision and a peripheral haemhorrhage. I have had diabetes for 42years.and regular screening shows peripheral retinopathy which is sometmies not even present no haemorrhages no cotton wool exudates and no visual loss. I was asked that the consultant reported back to OCCDEM [Oxford ] with their findings yesterday.I was not seen so that an opinion could be sent back to them. I have Mondays and Tuesdays free only today and tomorrow as this is my holiday time . This is administrative incompetance and where to I go to get a proper and competent service medically?I am concerned that this haemorrhage is linked to my diabetes and I might go blind or need urgent laser surgery.
