I attended at my appointment time of 7.30, after following full admission guidelines of no fluid passed midnight, only sips for your medication. On arrival I was told I was 6 th on the list and it would be 11-12 ish , fine no problem. At 11.15 a nurse informed me I would be next and they also announced the order to the other patience's as well. I explained I hadn't"t concerted yet! They said they would contact theatre for someone to come up. Seen everyone else, tagged and gowned ready, all broken skin marked on a body map! 5 mins later a very aggressive member if "theatre staff" arrived, saw the dressing which were all freshly done that morning, and seen by all other members if staff, and body mapped. I had even spoke to someone on the phone the previous Friday and checked they were acceptable ! I started to gently remove dressing so as not to damage wound under neither ,they were obviously in a hurry as they grabbed the edge of the dressing and yanked it off causing wounds that at 7 that morning were healing to start to bleed and also causing me distress! They then said they had to check if they were acceptable and left the room, even tho they had already been seen by 4 other members of staff! They filled in form, explained nothing and asked me to sign. As they started to leave the room they said " will see you after lunch in the middle if the afternoon! I had been told 10 mins previously that I would be next! I take several diuretic tablets which requires you to have a large in take of fluid, had I have been notified Monday I would be an afternoon patient my admission would of been 11 that morning and I would of been able to take fluid in that morning! Having been upset by the vicious way dressings were removed and also starting to suffer from dehydration, I spoke to the nurse who had said I was next. (Opposite me in the waiting room was a patient who had been told the previous day to come in at 11) the nurse I spoke to said please wait give me 15 mins to sort it out! The patient opposite went down, the theatre staff went to lunch and I was still waiting "15 mins " 2 pm came I was sweating, not with it, felt sick and had pains coming from my kidneys, which I knew were being caused by lack of fluid!! I asked again what was going on as I physically could not take any more! "Give me 10 mins" , enough was enough, I had my daughter with me who recently watched my husband, her dad pass away in agony, due to a mistake by the nhs, which is being takin very seriously by Complaints department", she said enough is enough, my mum is suffering, she came in for help and all she had received is more discomfort and lies! I got dressed and left, after 7 hours if unnecessary distress, disrespect out right lies!! I will now be asking my GP for a second opinion at a major teaching hospital, I will never ever attend QEQM again, and would say if anyone is given a choice of hospitals dont, go elsewhere!
