"Hand surgery"

About: Wansbeck Hospital

Having damaged a finger leading a horse I attended A&E one Sunday afternoon. I was seen well within an hour for assessment, x ray and medical follow up, waiting only a short time more to see a specialist. I returned the following day for assessment re surgery. Unfortunately I couldn't have surgery on Monday but I returned and had surgery on Tuesday morning and was home by the evening with a good supply of medicines and follow up arranged. Once my plaster and splints were off I had intensive physio and some six months later it is virtually impossible to tell I had a problem. My grip is almost as good as it was and the scar is barely visible. Overall I'm very happy with the treatment but especially with the outcome - it reminded how good it is to have a service like this close by because without their intervention I would not be able to do what I now can again.

Dear Sir / Madam, Many thanks for getting in touch to let us know how well you have recovered from your surgery. I am delighted the prompt and effective care you received has made such a difference and allowed you to keep doing the things that are important to you. It's what quality healthcare is all about really. This sort of feedback means everything to our teams - they get to see that their hard work has a tangible benefit for the patients they care for and that is, in itself, such a powerful source of motivation. Thank you. We will pass on your kind words to all concerned. With warm wishes for your continued health and recovery, Annie. Annie Laverty, Director of Patient Experience.
