"staff were uncaring"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary

I was admitted for an emergency caesarean and my baby was very premature so was taken to another hospital. The main staff on the post natal ward M1 were uncaring and unhelpful and I couldn't wait to leave.

We are really sorry and disappointed to hear that. Having a baby is a very special time and we aim to make sure that every women has a positive experience of giving birth in our hospitals. Our Matron for Maternity and Women’s Services, Sharon Smithson, is always keen to get feedback from women who have been on the unit and would very much appreciate a little more information about the reasons you found staff unhelpful, so that she can make sure any issues are resolved. If you are happy to contact her, you can do so by emailing sharon.smithson@dbh.nhs.uk or, if you prefer, you could call her on 01302 366666 x6344. The Maternity service also offers a birth ‘afterthoughts’ service. This is a one-to-one meeting with a Supervisor of Midwives in the comfort of a woman’s own home to discuss any concerns or issues and to answer any questions she may have, using her personal case notes. If you would like to access this service, please contact Matron Sharon Smithson via email or phone; her contact details are given above.
