"Discharge papers say different to what we were..."

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary

Arthritis' from two Rheumatology specialists/consultant (on this basis he is seeking rehousing and Disability Benefits) when he received his discharge papers the written diagnosis doesn’t say the same as he was told, it simply states 'Chronic Lower Back Pain' this could well have a seriously detrimental effect on my sons housing requirements being met by the housing department, and could cause him to be asked to explain why he stated his disability to be Inflammatory Arthritis when his documents state it is 'chronic lower back pain' I am very concerned that he could be charged with fraud. My other comment: Contacting the relevent department and Consultant is very nearly impossible, if an email system were put in place comments/complaints/thanks and compliments could be directed to the individual consultant, even if this was dealt with by a member of staff it would mean that we (the paying public) would be able to thank or pass on dissatisfaction. I feel it is crucial that people are able to voice their concerns/disappointment and/or compliments and/or thanks and while this 'Your Review' allows this it is very impersonal and remote, a more direct route of access would make us feel a lot more involved in our treatment (and the treatment of our loved ones) Finally: I tried to contact the rhumatology Department by telephone and the only number findable is for appointments, we need a telephone number for other issues, discussion and enquiries.

We’re sorry you had difficulty in contacting the department. We do not have an email system in place because of the dangers of someone using an unsecured email system to contact us, to preserve patient confidentiality. However contact details should be on relevant documentation your son has received. However if you do wish to raise issues with the service, you can contact our Customer Care department on 01539 795497 or you can email them on CommentsandComplaints@mbht.nhs.uk and they will investigate and report back. Please provide full contact details and as many details about your son as possible including date of appointments, name, address, date of birth and contact details. Many thanks for raising these issues and please contact our Customer Care department so we can resolve the difficulties you have faced.
