About: New Cross Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

During a recent experience in the Emergency Assessment Unit, the care was excellent. My elderly grandmother was admitted due to infection and frailty, confusion and dehydration. The care that was initially offered seemed to be from an inexperienced doctor who seemed a little confused. They asked for help and another doctor and they came and reassessed my gran.

The doctor summarised very quickly what the problems were and we felt supported due to the lack of care that she had received from the nursing home she had been living at. It was obvious that the care had been inadequate and it was comforting to receive support on this issue. She was given a high dose of pain relief, washed and put clean and comfortable in the emergency assessment ward by T

What could be improved

some negative attitude of one nurse in the EAU.She was moved to D17 the next day where they cared for her for 24 hours till her death, very sensitive, caring, excellent care.

A support system and a recording system to face this issue of neglect and inadequate care in nursing homes would be an asset. An advice system on how to make complaints against nursing homes, i. e.an after care system for relatives

to evaluate the reasons for death. (fairy tale. I know)
