"stayed on mother and baby unit"

About: St Georges Hospital Site (Morpeth)

Me and my Daugher Sophie stayed here in march 2010 for around 5 wks. The staff were extremelly caring and reasurring as I was so scared. The nurses are just amazing, very friendly and I was able to trust them very quickly with their support with my baby. They were so accomidating to my husband and let him sleep over reguarly with me as we live 35 miles away. My care co-ordinator was great and my Consultant was lovely. The unit itself has been made to look and feel very homely and is cosy with 6 rooms so its never over crowded. Most importntly, you keep your independance, you can cook, and nurses even can take you to the local shops when you're feeling lots better. I'm so glad I agreed to this unit as it helped speed up my recovery and helped me with my baby.

The ward team are very grateful for any feedback and particularly pleased when someone’s experience on the unit is felt to be supportive. We are very fortunate to be able to offer fathers time and space to stay on the ward with their partners and babies and do believe it promotes attachment and bonding within the family. The staff strives to develop positive relationships, care about the women and families admitted to the unit and hope that we enable mothers to recover, gain confidence and return home as soon as possible.
