"Standards of Excellence"

When my 95 year old Mum arrived at Launceston, after a three week period as an in- patient at Derriford Hospital, she was extremely frail and poorly. For three weeks Mum had been confined to bed, had not been mobilised and had not had a bath, shower or hair wash. Mum was not eating and needed much encouragement to even take a few sips of liquid. Within a few days of being at Launceston she was up, bathed, mobile and fully dressed. Mum began to enjoy her carefully prepared meals and she started to drink juice and tea with independence. The physiotherapy Mum received helped her to walk around the ward and very quickly she was told to slow down! Mum and her family are exceedingly grateful to the entire staff of Launceston Hospital. It is a wonderful hospital staffed by caring and dedicated people that are a real credit to the NHS, the community and themselves.
