Have had 3 stays on the ward in the past 12 months, staff very hardworking but often thin on the ground especially at handover times when call bells and alarms can ring for ever with nobody responding. The housekeeping team are real treasures, and often had to respond to call bells - but unable to assist as nurses and carers in handover meetings. The food is not very good, the only food that was consistent was ice cream, yoghurt and Rowe's pasties - all not made on site. Soup was inedible and vegetables overcooked and tasteless - my family brought food in for me daily and at times I had to resort to buying food from Mullions - quite expensive. Only 2 showers available for 16 patients, and one was out of order for a week - leaving an old slippy badly designed box with no privacy. The ward is extremely noisy at night, and it is very difficult to get to sleep, the evening drug round often not completed until 11.30pm then along they come and wake you up at 6 to 7 am to give you more medication. The nursing team try hard to meet everyone's needs, but appear not to have enough hours in the day. The majority of the staff are kind and caring, however 2 nurses can be very cruel and have no bedside manners .
