My son cracked a tooth on Christmas day. He knew he needed to make a dentist appointment but it was bank holidays & weekends in between.. At first he was able to deal with the pain, but on the Sunday evening his pain was unbearable. He called 111 & was told he would be a call back within 2 hours, after 3 hours & in exhursuating pain I took him to A& E as he clearly needed help with the pain at this point he was also covered in a very painful & nasty , angry looking rash.. After an hour or so He was called in & the nurse who saw him virtually told him off for coming to A & e,he was given tomazipan ... and sent away! Well the next day his face was swollen, he'd not eaten or slept much at this point and was getting quite Ill..still with a rash.( he also has a 1 yr old at home). We went to the dentist, he was perscribed amoxicillin & told to comeback ashe couldnt openhismouth. His neck started to hurt, face very swollen throat getting tight not able to talk well. We called 111, the paramedic's came out & gave him some kind of allergy shot...new years eve, early morning very poorly called 111 where he was told to come to A&E !! So then he has alsorts of blood taken, scan all sorts brilliant care this day took 6 hrs & he was admitted. His to it was removed on new years day. My point is that one he went through so much pain &must of cost the NHS a fortune. If only he had been seen & dealt with properly this would /could have been dealt with & not left to get so poorly & costly.., by the way I did need to ask for a drip he was getting quite dehydrated as he couldn't swallow..not even a drop of water...please can some one bring back common sense? Totally unnecessary experience I believe!?
