"Arethusa Ward and A&E"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

Anything else?

A big thank you to the staff on Arethusa Ward who looked after my mother before and after her hip joint was nailed back together this Christmas. The nurses were all wonderful and my mother, entirely institution-phobic when she arrived, didn't want to leave by the end. She was transferred to re-hab too suddenly for me to thank all the staff so I am using this portal instead. The atmosphere that the very friendly and kindly, chatty nurses managed to maintain was full of goodwill and serenity, and I think this makes such a difference to recovery and general well-being when you're in hospital and uncomfortable and perhaps scared, and the importance of which might be overlooked among the statistics and percentages and performance indicators, etc. So, thanks all you underrated nurses says Mum! Her triage and admittance via A&E was seamless, so many thanks due down there as well.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. It is great to hear that your mother had a good experience throughout her care at Medway and I'm so pleased that both you and your mother found staff friendly and kind. It is wonderful for our nurses to be recognised for their hard work. Your comments are really appreciated and I will pass them onto the relevant teams. All the best, Sam Goldberg, General Manager – Surgery, Anaesthesia & Critical Care
