"Easy question nightmare answer"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

Anything else?

After receiving a letter from NHS Medway requesting I have a blood test prior to a MRI scan I called the general number to see if I had to book. After waiting some time for somebody to pick up the call, I was told by a very tied sounding receptionist that "we don't do blood test unless you are an inpatient" I suggest that may I could go to my local small Hospital. The response was " I supose so". I asked again "do I go to my local Hospital" "not sure" was the answer. Well I will go to my local and with luck speak to some one who can help. This is not my first experience of poor service from Medway.

I am very sorry that you were not given useful information when enquiring about blood tests. I have discussed this matter with the receptionist and the new process for GP blood test referrals has been reiterated to her. At the beginning of December 2013, the GP service left the Trust and all patients now need to attend an offsite provider for blood tests, unless they are from outpatient clinics or are inpatients. Again, I am very sorry that you were not informed to a good standard. Carole Ann Holmes Clerical Operations Manager Imaging and Nuclear Medicine
