"traumatic angiogram but good aftercare."

About: Castle Hill Hospital

Anything else?

Brought by ambulance (paramedics brilliant) as having a heart attack. I had prompt angiogram, but via wrist. This was extremely painful as went into spasm and the cardiologist had to withdraw and enter via the groin, which was fine. My concern is that I didnt have a nurse stay with me during the procedure and I was very frightened. I felt I could have been better informed as to what was going on, especially when I was in a lot of pain during the spasm. I also had to keep asking for water to moisten my lips, as they were unbearably dry, and I felt I was being a nuisance for asking. I know that staff are busy doing their job to keep patients alive, but its equally important to ensure patients are calm & re-assured. I had an angiogram in St Thomas's hospital, Westminster in October 2012, and it was a much calmer experience, with a nurse reassuring me constantly, and the cardiologist explaining everything from start to finish. I couldnt fault the aftercare at Castle Hill, and as I was on Ward 28 on Christmas Day, I would like to thank them for making the day as pleasant as possible for me and my family.

Keeping patients calm and informed is very important and we are sorry that you did not have the support on this occasion.
