suddenly became very short of breath, was struggling to breath to the point where I thought I would pass out, my mother called an ambulance which a male paramedic turned up in no time what so ever, he was very professional and caring at all times. He realised there was an urgent need to get me transferred to East Surrey Hospital ( nearest hospital to myself) and organised a 2 man crew to come and transfer me to there.
on arrival I was taken straight through to the resuscitation room where both the nursing and medical staff were very attentive, caring and professional throughout, they got specialists down from both ENT and ICU to come and assess me and it was agreed that I would need to go up to the ICU for further observation so that if my condition worsened then I would need to be ventilated.
On arrival to the unit I was a bit apprehensive about being surrounded by such critically unwell patients and all the machinery, but my concerns were laid to rest quickly. the care I received was exceptional and I would like to personally thank Andrea, Rose, Kirstie, and Irene who helped me and cared so beautifully and compassionately with such dignity and care.
but I would like to thank everyone from the bottom to the top of the unit, it was effectively managed, high standards of infection control were maintained and at all times I was aware of what was happening to me throughout my stay. Thank you x
