Had to report at 7am but did not go to theatre until 12. 45. No one kept me informed and the only contact I had was a nurse measuring and bringing compression socks. I have large ankles so had to have large socks but these were then very slack on my legs.
I had very good pre-assessment information and had been advised not too drink anything hot and just soft/liquid food for a few days so was surprised to be offered tea and toast when I got back to the ward!
I was then discharged before I felt that I had fully come round from the anaesthetic. I had to hang on to my husband to get to the car.
I then discovered when I got home that as well as the planned op, my tonsils had also been removed. It would have been nice to have been told this.
"didn't know that as well as the planned op, my tonsils were removed"
