"Upset patient"

About: University Hospital Of North Tees

Anything else?

I visited this hospital last night a&e in a lot of pain when I was seen the doctor was very short with me. My partner said it seemed he was doubting my symptoms. This was fine I could deal with this behaviour as I do on a regular basis at work. I was then asked to move rooms to have my bloods taken. My partner was asked to wait outside which I requested he stayed and the doctor ignored my request and showed my partner where to wait. I let this slide. The doctor started to take my bloods. A few minutes in after taking my blood I asked him to stop as I felt like i was going to faint. He carried on and never acknowledged my request. He had only took 2 viles of blood at this point. The next thing I remember was waking up in the most awkward position. I was hanging off the hospital bed and I was alone. I sat up to see 3 viles of blood had been taken and a canula was secured onto my arm. I was concerned that if this has gone on whilst I had fainted what else has he done. I shouted for my partner who informed me the doctor left a few minutes ago and no other doctors or nurses has come back. At this point I was distraught that I had just been left like that. I began to cry. My partner then pointed out the bed that I had been put on was covered in old dry blood and what looked like mud from someone's shoes. This was not from my shoes as it was at the head of the bed. Having worked in care in the past I know how important it is to change sheets before contact with a new person to prevent cross contamination. I am completely unhappy with the way I was treated by this doctor. The other staff were brilliant. I cannot fault them. I am making a formal complaint as this incident has left me distraught.
