"Urgent stopover en route between Edinburgh & East..."

About: Alnwick Infirmary

Anything else?

Driving down A1 my 90-year-old Dad became increasingly uncomfortable and distressed as a result of a blocked urinary catheter. We called at GP unit in Belford who were no help and told me the nearest A&E was Alnwick. Were greated by the nurse at Minor Injuries centre and although it was really outside their normal scope, after consultation she was able to unblock catheter, test urine and arrange for local GP to prescribe antibiotics. Although it took quite a long time (about 2.5h) we were very appreciative of the care and attention afforded by the staff and especially the nurse.

Dear Sir / Madam,

Thank you for getting in touch to let us know about your recent experience of the Minor Injuries Unit at Alnwick.

Your poor father - what an uncomfortable journey that must have been for him and horrible for you both to be caught out like that en route. I'm delighted that the team at Alnwick responded in the way we would expect - going out of their way to help and give your father the care he needed. I will make sure they receive your kind feedback.

With all best wishes for the New Year,

Annie
