"Waiting time for physiotherapy appointments"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary

Anything else?

Was referred and seen at the sandringham centre, after unsuccessful steroid injection went back on 23rd sept 2013 for a follow up as condition worsened. Was told an appointment would be set up for physiotherapy to try and help before considering surgery....,,up to date 23/12/13 I still have no contact or appointment for a physio. I had to go back to my gp to be referred again and seem to have to start from the beginning again!!! Extremely unhappy and disgusted with the service, I have shoulder impingement due to calcification build up and tissue adhering to the calcium build up in both shoulders, resulting in a great deal of pain made worse due to my m.e and fibromyalgia.....it comes to something when a 34 yr old woman has to ask for assistance from old people in the supermarket and struggles with every day simple tasks. At the end of my rope now, this system needs fixing!!!!!

Dear Ms Hudson, I am sorry to hear that you have not been happy with your recent experience within the Trust. I have investigated the concerns that you have raised about your care by the physiotherapy service. It would appear that there was an administrative delay in your referral for physiotherapy being processed and I apologise for this. As a result of your feedback we are looking into the reasons for this delay to make sure that improvements are made in order to prevent unnecessary delays in patient care. The waiting time for physiotherapy is currently higher than usual and I am very sorry that you have had to wait to be seen. It is very important to us that patients are seen at the most appropriate time, and we are working hard to reduce the length of time that patients have to wait for physiotherapy assessment and treatment. I understand that you have now spoken with one of my lead physiotherapists and that you have arranged an appointment to see her on 16 January 2014. If you do have any further concerns about your physiotherapy care, please do not hesitate to contact me directly on 01302 381392 or by e-mail at ruth.bruce@nhs.net. May I take this opportunity to thank you once again for highlighting your concerns to us. Ruth Bruce Physiotherapy Clinical Head of Outpatient Services
